Booking Risk Score

Protect your business from chargebacks, loss of income, and property theft and damage.

RealTech’s Booking Risk Score feature offers a brand new tool to property managers’ arsenal to combat fraud. When you activate this latest feature, you are unlocking a new solution to assess the risk behind online bookings and ultimately help you decide on how best to protect your business.

As an additional layer in our security ecosystem, Booking Risk Score focuses on more manual types of fraudulent booking behaviors, which can be complex to detect. In worst-case scenarios, manual fraud may not be discovered until after the stay, when the legitimate card owner reports payment theft. But thoroughly screening every reservation in advance can be time-consuming and costly.

That’s where Booking Risk Score steps in. This feature helps property managers identify reservations warranting further investigation before allowing a suspicious guest to stay in their rentals.

How does it work?

By integrating with one of the industry leaders in ecommerce security—MaxMind minFraud®—RealTech brings you state-of-the-art real-time transaction fraud alerting.

Each online booking you receive will come with a Booking Risk Score, which indicates the percentage likelihood that a reservation is fraudulent based on the online user’s behavior. This score is calculated from cross-checked transaction information, such as guest name, email, phone, and address, alongside IP address fingerprinting to identify suspicious real-time user activity.

A Booking Risk Score is categorized and color-coded at the bottom of each reservation staff booking confirmation email:

  • Green = risk scores below 10%
  • Yellow = scores between 10-60%
  • Red = scores above 60-90%
  • Blocked = scores above 90%

Booking Risk Scores are also accompanied by a list of online user factors or reasons that contributed to the overall risk score.
